The Salvation Army of Aurora Welcomes New Leaders!
The Salvation Army appointed Captains Antonio & Janelle Romero (corps officers) and Lieutenant Dana Hixenbaugh (associate corps officer) as pastors for Aurora Salvation Army as of June 30, 2010. They have taken over the responsibilities held previously by pastos Majors Hall and Lieutenants Garcia, who have been assigned to different locations.
Captains Romero come to the City of Aurora after serving in the northwest of Chicago for a combined ten years of service. Their desire is to be utilized by God to continue serving under their new pastoral and administrative roles in the City of Aurora. "We are honored at being able to serve in such a wonderful community...we are encouraged by the warmth of our neighbors and are excited at the opportunity to become a part of the life of the Greater Aurora Community."
Lt. Hixenbaugh is a new pastor of the church and shares: "I really look forward to being able to worship with members of our community and help serve in any area that is needed. The church has an open door policy and anyone is invited to come serve our neighbors and worship with us." Before coming to Aurora, Lt. Hixenbaugh was a student at The College for Officer Training, the seminary for The Salvation Army. Lt. Hixenbaugh is originally from Nebraska and has a passion for working with others and introducing them to the Gospel!
Captains Antonio & Janelle Romero, along with Lt. Hixenbaugh look forward to continue working with the existing programming as well as becoming part of the expansion of new programs at The Salvation Army of Aurora that will further encourage the community and enhance the way our neighbors are helped both in times of need and out of need.
"We have only been in Aurora for a short period of time and have already observed the kindness and willingness to serve demonstrated by local residents... we look fordward to meeting more members of the community and making new friends!"
